IDA PRODUCTIONS was selected to be one of the companies taking part to international AV Growth programme. AV-Growth is a 3-year project which offers a growth programme for companies in audiovisual industry i.e gaming, film, tv, video, VFX or XR in Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia. It strives to tackle the lack of local, regional and national production resources, skills, equipment, facilities, and international networks in the film and TV industry. Cross-border collaboration and resource sharing are essential for scaling growth in international AV productions, benefiting both startups and the AV ecosystem as a whole. The overall aim of the project is to support AV and creative sector growth companies to respond to the existing demand related to handling of incoming big international productions and attracting more large-scale productions to Nordic and Baltic countries. ONE OF US - VAIN TOINEN MEISTÄ was screened in competition at the Odense Film Festival OFF2024 in Denmark. ONE OF US - VAIN TOINEN MEISTÄ will be screened at Tampere Film Festival Niina Vuorisara's film deals with the taboo subject - sibling violence. SNOWBALL EFFECT is nominated for Best Documentary Jussi Award. Jussi Awards are presented by the Filmiaura Association. Filmiaura’s over 600 members consist of film makers, film distributors, film journalists, cinema operators and other professionals working with Finnish film. The Jussi Award was established by the association for Finnish film journalists, Elokuvajournalistit, in 1944, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the Filmiaura Association. The nominees for the Jussi Award are chosen by the Jury of experts together with Filmiaura’s Board. The composition of the Jury changes annually. The Filmiaura Association members choose the winners by means of a secret ballot. Jussi Award ceremony is held 22nd of March, 2024 in Helsinki, Finland and broadcasted live by MTV channel. Ida Productions' first feature film Kittilä drama SNOWBALL EFFECT will be screened at the internationally acclaimed 36th HIFF - Love & Anarchy film festival on Sunday 24th of September in cinema Orion, Helsinki at 4pm. SNOWBALL EFFECT will be shown in the FIGHT THE POWER series of the festival's feature films. SNOWBALL EFFECT (dir. Pauliina Punkki, 2023, 90 min) Film director Punkki sets out to find out what really happened in the Lapland municipality of Kittilä? SNOWBALL EFFECT tells about one of the biggest political scandals in Finnish history. Film director Pauliina Punkki dives deep into the shocking series of events in the Lapland municipality. How did the election of a young feminist mayor set in motion a snowball effect that is still spinning? The film takes the viewer on an eventfull journey to the Lapland fells. Its is a tragic story about the shaky structures of Finnish democracy. Municipal politics is a passion, at least in Finnish Lapland. Such a snowball effect can happen anywhere and anytime, including in a winter wonderland, in the middle of the northern lights and in one of the least corrupt countries in the world. 2023, May Ida Productions' director, producer and film editor Pauliina Punkki became member of Finnish Cinema Editors Guild (F.C.E). 10 Letters to the Future film where Pauliina Punkki is one of the directors had a premiere at DocPoint film festival. 10 Letters to the Future is a documentary film about people living in times of global crises, trying to envision how the future is 50 years from now. 2022, Fall We are happy to announce that our documentary film in development ONCE WE WERE HEROES by director Oliwia Tonteri has been selected to Ice and Fire Docs documentary film training. Ice and Fire Docs is a creative documentary workshop for Estonian and Finnish filmmakers with international ambitions. Throughout the workshop the participants will work with different aspects of developing, producing, financing and distributing a feature length documentary film. The creative director of the workshop is Mikael Opstrup from Denmark. The second principal tutor is Jesper Osmund, an internationally renowned film editor and narrative consultant. The workshop lasts for about a year and consists of three sessions. On November director Oliwia Tonteri, film editor Jerem Tonteri and producer Pauliina Punkki took part in DocCelerator Story program with Ida Productions project in development, Once we were heroes (previously Coal). DocCelerator Story is a online documentary story and script development program run by Geoffrey Smith and Ove Rishøj Jensen. Our feature documentary Coal, written and directed by Oliwia Tonteri was granted development support by The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture, AVEK. Our short documentary One of Us, written and directed by Niina Vuorisara is in production. One of Us is supported by Finnish Film Foundation, The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture and Yle. One of Us is a combination of Animation made by Erika Weiste, archive material and live-action scenes. In August we welcomed a new hire, Maria Leskinen as a Production Manager and in September Jooa Kaukonen as Production Trainee. 2022, Spring Part of Ida Productions film ToDo can be seen in Helsinki area Metro stations in Matinkylä, Kamppi, Central Station and Sörnäinen as part of the X-Gallery video art exhibition. 2021 Our documentary feature Snowball Effect (Lumipalloefekti) has been selected to the DocPoint FINEST Market work in progress documentary selection. The market presents the newest and best Finnish and Estonian Documentaries to international documentary professionals. The DocPoint FINEST Market will be held for the first time in January-February 2022 DocPoint FINEST Market is curated by DocPoint Festival and invites international actors in the documentary industry, such as festival programmers, distributors, sales agents and buyers of television channels and VOD platforms. __ Ida Productions project in development Coal -Hiili -Węgiel written and directed by Oliwia Tonteri has been granted development funding by Finnish Film Foundation. is a touching and visually beautiful tragedy of a pitch black energy source and its future. 2021 Our documentary feature Snowball Effect was selected as part of DocPoint IMPACT 2021. DocPoint IMPACT is organised by DocPoint Film Events which aims at creating visibility, appreciation and new audiences for creative documentary films. The DocPoint society wants to strengthen the distribution of documentary films and their role in public discussion. 2020 Ida Productions is now a member of Audiovisual Producers Finland APFI. We have happy to announce that Ida Productions Western Taboo project has been awarded a grant from Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation. Western Taboo is multiplatform concept directed by Oliwia Tonteri and Produced by Pauliina Punkki and Paula Pitkänen. Concept will created in collaboration with Starhop Creative. Currently we have two documentary feature films in development. Snowball Effect (Kittilä) is produced by Pauliina Punkki and Kaisa Astikainen. The film is directed by Pauliina Punkki. Snowball Effect was part of Finnish Film Affair 2020 lineup and was chosen as Game Changers in WIFT Finland organised Action! project. Our second feature documentary Broken Heroes is directed by Oliwia Tonteri and produced by Pauliina Punkki. Broken Heroes was presented at CEDOC Doc Lab Poland 2020. 2019 Kaisa Astikainen will join our Kittilä - documentary film project as producer. She will be working alongside director, producer Pauliina Punkki. Kittilä is a place and a documentary film that takes place in Finnish Lapland. Raisa Punkki is selected to work as 2019 Sandbox Artist program at ODC, San Francisco. 2018 Short film To Do was selected to Film-Art-Dance on Screen Festival, The Short Film Show and 60secondsdance online film festival. To Do is a first part of our 10 year art project Roadmap10. 2017 A Room (Of Our Own) performance had it's premiere at San Francisco International Art Festival June 2017. |
